As many professional drivers know, the world’s largest truck stop is Iowa 80, located near the small town of Walcott, Iowa, where custom home building is not currently a booming enterprise (though there are some engaged in the residential construction and remodeling business). Since it’s inception in 1979, the Truckers Jamboree has been celebrating the truck drivers of America, who work just as hard as those employed in the fields of general contracting, telecommunication installation, the building of tribal infrastructures, or commercial construction and remodeling, even though they are often quite literally found sitting down on the job. The 35th Annual Truckers Jamboree will be held July 10-12, 2014 at Iowa 80 in Walcott, Iowa. The event is a great place to learn about the history of trucking, big rigs, and possibly general contracting. Iowa 80 says that hosting this event is their way of saying “thank you” to the millions of truckers who deliver the goods that America consumes. Even parts used for telecommunication installation or building tribal infrastructures are often delivered by truck, which means that truckers affect many other industries outside of their own in a direct manner. Those involved in custom home building can attest to the reality that if trucks do not deliver construction materials to their job sites, the projects fall behind schedule before they get far off the ground.
The 35th Annual Truckers Jamboree will be a huge party, unlike everything ever seen in the residential and commercial construction and remolding industry. Those involved in custom home building will likely love the antique truck display and super truck beauty contest. There will also be an Iowa pork chop cookout and the infamous trucker olympics. In total, there will be more than 175 different exhibits in the Truckers Jamboree, which means there is something for the entire family to enjoy – even Uncle Al, who spends his days buried in his job in the field of telecommunication installation. If you are planning to attend the Truckers Jamboree, be aware that it will be more fun that spending your days planning and building tribal infrastructures. Though this can be an exciting field, the Truckers Jamboree will have carnival games, live country music, and even fireworks!
